Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce on Wednesday, a partnership that embeds the Salesforce CRM platform directly into Claude, letting sales teams access live customer data, pipeline metrics, and workflow actions without leaving the chatbot interface. The plugin launches with 37 prebuilt sales skills and is scheduled for open beta in September 2026. The details were first published in a joint press release from Salesforce and covered by CNBC, which featured a joint interview with both CEOs.

The announcement marks the first time Salesforce has ever attached its "force" suffix to another company's product name, a move that underscores how deeply the two companies are intertwining their platforms. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei appeared together for a joint interview with CNBC at Salesforce Tower in San Francisco, where they framed Claudeforce as a turning point for how enterprise software operates. Amodei told CNBC that the two companies are building "Enterprise Frontier Safeguards" to ensure Salesforce customer data remains private and that Anthropic's models "don't run out of control." Benioff described it to CNBC as "the way all enterprise systems are going to run in the future."

What Claudeforce actually does

Claudeforce launches as a plugin called Salesforce in Claude. It connects Claude's reasoning capabilities to Salesforce's data layer, including headless 360 views, data 360, Tableau dashboards, and Slack integrations. The 37 prebuilt skills cover meeting preparation, deal health reviews, pipeline analysis, email drafting, and record updates.

The plugin routes every action through Salesforce's governance layer, meaning business rules and permissions are enforced when Claude takes action on behalf of a user. An administrator connects Salesforce to Claude once, and all team members get access without individual setup or new permission models.

Claude also runs inside Salesforce's Agentforce platform as the reasoning engine behind Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker, available through Amazon Bedrock within the Salesforce Trust Boundary for customers in regulated industries.

The broader integration

Beyond the plugin, the partnership spans multiple layers. Claude is the default model for Slack AI, Slackbot, and Slack Code, embedding Anthropic's intelligence into the collaboration platform that Salesforce uses internally. Salesforce, in turn, is Anthropic's preferred CRM and uses Slack as its internal collaboration tool.

The mutual adoption extends to development tools. Salesforce is making Claude Code and Claude Enterprise available to all its developers and knowledge workers, and Claude is the first large language model fully integrated within the Salesforce Trust Boundary. Internally, Slackbot has already driven 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains at Salesforce, up more than 2x quarter over quarter.

Why this matters for enterprise AI

The announcement comes at a moment when enterprise software vendors are facing investor skepticism about whether AI tools could replace them entirely. Salesforce shares have fallen roughly 22% this year and another 20% in 2025, while the Nasdaq has climbed about 35% since the end of 2024.

The market reaction to Claudeforce was immediate. Salesforce stock rose 12% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after the company reported fiscal second-quarter results that beat Wall Street expectations. The partnership signals a strategy of embedding AI deeply into enterprise workflows rather than competing against them.

Anthropic's own revenue trajectory adds context. The company reported that its annualized revenue run rate hit $65 billion at the end of July, a sevenfold increase from a year ago. Claudeforce represents a concrete path to monetize that growth through enterprise integration rather than API calls alone.

What happens next

Salesforce in Claude is available to a select group of pilot customers now, with open beta expected in September 2026. Additional prebuilt skills will launch later this year. The companies have not disclosed pricing details beyond the existing Salesforce and Claude commercial terms.

The broader question is whether this model of AI-embedded enterprise software will become the standard. Benioff described it as "the way all enterprise systems are going to run in the future," positioning the interface itself as the application rather than a portal to one.
